Sponsored by Gorman Bros, this skills-based development program is for U8-U12 intermediate to advanced players.
Designed by our Technical Director, the program is led by our Skill Centre Manager and Staff Coaches with a focus on advancing skill development with a dynamic training curriculum tailored to each player's age and stage of development.
The session plans are generally broken down into three components.
1) Ball Mastery: The idea is to get as many touches on the ball as possible (focusing on Technique).
2) Activity: soccer topics, passing & receiving, shooting, defending, possession.
3) Small-sided games: All coaches will provide exciting challenging sessions each week.
During the winter, training and games take place in the dome in West Kelowna, and during the outdoor season all training and games take place on grass fields.
Sponsored by Discovery Glass, WYSA's Academy program is a select team training program which is designed to enhance and develop technical skills and game awareness, while providing progressive and challenging soccer sessions throughout the season.
This program is for intermediate to advanced level players. The competitive environment created will provide an opportunity for players to further develop technical ability, understand team play and formations, and develop individual speed, agility and quickness.
During the winter, training and games take place in the dome in West Kelowna, and during the outdoor season all training and games take place on grass fields, and the teams play in the TOYSL league.
WYSA is excited to launch a new GOALKEEPER ACADEMY starting in the spring outdoor season. This training program will operate year-round and provide opportunities for goalkeepers to receive position-specific training, led by one of the top Goalkeeper Coaches in Western Canada.

Effective April 1, 2025, WYSA will be offering a new PROSPECTS PROGRAM for recreational players within the club in the U8-U15 age groups. This program will provide opportunities for players to achieve the next level of play over time with training and occasional game opportunities with a development/select level team.
A simple example of this new program would be a player on the U12 boys recreational team, who wishes to gain extra training and playing opportunities as part of their development. If agreed with the Skill Centre Manager, this player would be offered a Prospects Program spot in the U12 Skill Centre Program. They would then be invited to training sessions and occasional games to further their development. In this case, the player’s first commitment and recognized team by COYSA registration would be to their Recreational team where they would provide a full commitment to that team’s training session and games.
BASELINE COMMITMENT:
- Fully committed to recreational team’s training and game schedule
- Responsive to development team’s training and game opportunities
PROGRAM INCLUDES:
- Invite to the designated development team’s training sessions on a regular basis
- Occasional game opportunities
- Team training shirt
PROGRAM COST:
- $150 for the outdoor season from Apr-June, Sept-Oct
- $200 for the winter indoor season from Nov-March
- If participating in extra tournaments with the development team, there may be an additional team cost
This is on top of the recreational team registration fee to join a WYSA team
