WYSA fully believes in, and promotes, the player development pathway in BC/Canada.
For players, we encourage two streams of play; the first is the soccer for life recreational model, where players are enjoying the game with a focus on playing for life.
At the select level, WYSA offers development programs which can lead to the BC Soccer Premier League, the highest youth league play in BC.
Ultimately, WYSA supports players competing at the next level of play, and will support a full pathway.
Canada Soccer believes every player deserves the best possible soccer experience. LTPD is a model of athlete development that parallels what doctors and psychologists have long used to better understand human development: as a series of distinct stages, which takes us from infancy through to adulthood. A person’s abilities, behaviours and emotions, as well as their understanding of the world around them, varies from stage to stage.
When children learn the right skills at the right time —supported by a caring soccer community of parents, coaches, officials and volunteers —they become more confident in their abilities and have a lot more fun. This means more of them will grow into healthy, active adults with a lifelong love of the game.

WYSA supports coach development, and we know that volunteer coaches are the heartbeat of our club!
Whether a coach is brand new, or moving up to another level of certification, WYSA invests in coach development and provides certification opportunities for all levels.
WYSA takes and upholds the BC Safe Sport pledge:
“BC Soccer believes that everyone involved in soccer has the right to participate in safe and inclusive environments free of abuse, harassment, discrimination, and to enjoy the sport at whatever level or capacity they participate in. The welfare of everyone involved in soccer is the foremost consideration and in particular, the protection of children in the sport is the responsibility of everyone involved.”
